Purpose: The purpose of this work was to apply components of Organizational Development (OD) to an organization faced with challenges compromising their mission, vision, values and competitiveness. From the viewpoint of a consultant, my intention was to guide TEACH 123 leaders through the work with stakeholders by identifying system factors contributing to current challenges. Through examination, this study demonstrated how OD builds off previous decisions and actions made, encouraging reflection, learning and growth across an organization.

Why I Selected This Artifact: This artifact comes from OL 646 and aligns with program learning outcome number two, integrating and applying analytical principles and skills to make complex strategic decisions. I was able to identify and analyze how issues are addressed by utilizing change models that provide the tools necessary to diagnosis, plan and implement change. Within an organization, the implementation of OD supports self-regulation, problem-solving and adaptability. This approach is meant to help TEACH 123 develop the knowledge and skills to solve their own problems, and to change and improve themselves.

Program Learning Outcome and Course Objective: The artifact shared meets the course objective and program learning outcomes by demonstrating the impact integration and application of analytical principles and skills has on making complex strategic decisions. OD works to resolve issues based on evidence while promoting systems thinking approaches that work towards continuous improvement. By modeling creative and critical thinking skills, leaders can evaluate and align strategic positions with organizational values, ensuring future growth and success for years to come.
