Purpose: The purpose of this work was to analyze the flow of an organization by applying the Organizational Systems Theory. Youth Lacrosse was studied throughout this work, including the creation of a visual map to explain of the system flow of the organization. From there, current conflicts were addressed along with recommended solutions focused on collaboration, team building, and improved employee relations. Through examination, this study demonstrated how leaders can work to improve communication and collaboration, leading to more productive and positive experience for players, coaches, parents, and the community.
Why I Selected This Artifact: This artifact comes from OL 624 and aligns with program learning outcome number four, collaborating in complex work teams utilizing effective motivational and coaching techniques. Throughout this artifact, I was able to apply a systems theory and demonstrate when used effectively, improves team learning, coaching, and shared vision to organizational operations. By diagnosing and proposing methods towards resolving conflict, Youth Lacrosse will be able to help parents and coaches work through conflict constructively, with the intent to reach resolutions that have the youth athletes’ best interests at heart.
Program Learning Outcome and Course Objective: The artifact shared meets the course objective and program learning outcomes by demonstrating the impact various forms of communication have within an organizational system. Through analysis, leaders must learn how to collaborate in complex work teams by utilizing effective motivational and coaching techniques. This is done with the inclusion of collaboration, team building and shared vision.
